The Clockwork Door, Dublin
CPIHD held their second evening event of the year this week when they invited members and interested parties to the cosy interior of The Clockwork Door in Temple Bar for an evening of discussions around working with the migrant population in Ireland.
CPIHD Education Officer, Naomi O’Reilly, opened proceedings with some background to migrants and the various terms used in media parlance to describe this population. Naomi also presented some information on a current study by Dr Emer McGowan, who had been scheduled to attend on the night but was unable to do so.
Maca Hourihane, Research Officer of CPIHD, then shared some of her experiences of working with the Irish Red Cross and in Direct Provision centres. To conclude, there were small group discussions on how we can best education healthcare professionals in Ireland about working with this diverse, challenging patient group, and offered attendees the opportunity to share their experiences in this area.
Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope to see you all at our study day on May 30th, with more details to follow.
